Honoka (ほのか, Honoka) is one of the employees at Maid Latte along with Erika, Subaru and Misaki Ayuzawa. In the epilogue, it’s stated that Honoka developed a romantic relationship on Aoi Hyōdō and she is currently dating him.
Honoka is a beautiful young girl with short, peach-colored hair and brown eyes. She wears the same maid uniform as everybody else, and she is rarely seen anywhere other than at Maid Latte. Honoka is pretty short and has an average weight.
Honoka is probably the most unkind of all the maids at Maid Latte, and she frequently has a "black aura" around her whenever she criticizes someone under her breath. She finds the manager's sweetness "sickening" and is revealed to be quite selfish. She can become somewhat maniacal about getting in character for her job and doesn’t like Misaki Ayuzawa for her initial resistance to acting parts outside of her comfort range, as well as for being ashamed of working at Maid Latte and hiding it from her peers.
But nevertheless, Honoka is very kind in her job as a maid in Maid Latte and treats the customers very nicely. She is always criticizing Misaki as Honoka really seems to detest her. Also, when she is criticizing someone the tone of her voice changes. Despite her pretty appearance, Honoka is also straightforward, unabashed and extremely sincere, to the point where she can hurt someone. Although the two bicker and clash on occasion, Honoka is seen to support Aoi in his ambitions (helping him pick his university) and advises him on several occasions. Several years ahead when she is managing the Maid cocktail bar, she fights with Aoi despite the other workers being confused (not thinking they were on bad terms) - she is evasive regarding her feelings for him and laments how cutesy he once was. Later however, once the two have admitted their feelings and gotten together, Honoka is shown to be warm and affectionate (displaying that she is quite the tsundere type and uses aggression to mask her true feelings).
Honoka made her debut during Episode 1. When Maid Latte decides to host a "Little Sister's Day" where the maids dress up and act as little sisters to their customers. Misaki Ayuzawa has trouble acting the part, since she has no experience regarding what it is like to be a younger sister and her own little sister not being a perfect example. Satsuki Hyōdō allows Misaki to skip this event by changing shifts, but her co-worker, Honoka, accuses Satsuki of favoritism. During summer, the Maid Latte employees have been invited by Satsuki's sister Nagisa Tsuwamono to her Beach House, with Aoi Hyōdō and Takumi Usui tagging along. The girls decide to help out at the resort by hosting a one-day Maid café event to attract customers. During the footman auditions, Honoka enjoys the show along with Satsuki, Erika Ono and later Subaru Saotome. In the epilogue, it is stated that Honoka developed a romantic relationship with Aoi Hyōdō.
- The name Honoka can mean "faint".
- According to the character profile in the manga:
- Honoka's specialty is playing characters.
- Honoka likes the world of fiction.
- Honoka likes pretty boys; while Aoi was still cross dressing she told him that he looked cute without his costumes - Honoka remarked that his cuteness made him her ideal type and was dismayed when he stopped aiming to be so (instead growing into his handsomeness). She helped him find the university he attends and the two get together when Aoi is 20.
